Because Vietnam hosted and chaired all activities of the 21-nation Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) organization in 2006, delegates met with President Nguyen Minh Triet (front, center) to request that he put several issues concerning women's enterprise development and economic development onto the agenda at his upcoming meeting with the heads of state of the 21 member economies in APEC. APEC members include Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, People's Republic of China, Hong Kong/China, Republic of China (AKA Taiwan), Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and the United States.
